A Study On The Naxi Characters Between The Glyph And Meaning

In this paper, the relationship between form and meaning of Dongba "word group" is a name for the material classification. The same elements can be divided into two parts. The one which can make characters oneself is one group. The other can not make characters oneself but can help to make characters is another group, such as points, lines, circles, etc. Firstly the one which can make characters oneself has been analyzed. For example:sky、earth、sun、moon、water、fire、tail、tree、 thunder、wind、mountain、slope、foot、bowl and house,15groups of "word group" have been analyzed. Secondly, the other can not make characters oneself but can help to make characters have been analyzed. In this paper we select the elements which have diversity form and rich meaning, for example:points, lines, circles. According to points’shape, we have divided them into "single point","three pionts" and "multipoints" word group. The line has been divided into "single line","double lines","three lines" and "multilines" character group. Circle has been divided into "single circle" and "multiple circles" word group. Word elements like points, lines and circles have been analyzed in order to summary the function in the Dongba characters. Furthermore, the different "word group"has the same configuration mode. We put them together to find Dongba characters’same rules. Finally, we drew a conclusion that what is the relationship between form and meaning of Dongba "word group" and summarize the relationship between form and meaning of Dongba characters.
