M·B Arbatov stated in his《Art History》that “All arts include two aspects, oneis called ‘simulation’ that is ‘modeling’. Another is called ‘decoration’ or ‘form’”.Decorative is a form and technique of art, it belongs to the scope of art forms, it isused to achieve the artistic effect with other ways.Decorative effect presents in all forms of arts, Chinese painting is very specialbecause its decorative effect is strong, it is a feature of Chinese painting. With timegoes by, four clear periods after the independence of flower-bird painting: the firstperiod is Tang, Five Dynasties, Song, fine brushwork was the mainstream andreached the peak; the second period is from the Northern Song Dynasty to the YuanDynasty the form of painting turn into ink and wash; in Ming and Qing dynasties, tothe main form of Chinese painting was freehand brushwork and reached its peak. Themodern time is the development of diversified forms period, when Chinese traditionalpainting absorbed western art and succeed Chinese tradition. This article from theChinese painting aesthetics as a starting point, to freehand flowers and birds paintingas the cutting point, ordinally analyze Chinese traditional flowers and birds painting’sdecorative effect which is presented, implicit and refracted from art of composition,ink, and color. turned from the art of composition, ink, colors. and focus on exploringhow to use "decoration" factor in modern Chinese flowers and birds paintingsin-depth study of uniform of “decorative effect and artistic effect of painting" in thefreehand flowers and birds painting, and to comb, analyzed and discussed the"degree" of how to use, so that we can have a deeper understanding of our flowersand birds painting traditional aesthetic and modern ideas, and thus some help of thepainting creation and the theory study in future. The creation of bird practice andtheory are sure to succeed.
