This paper reveals the pre-Qin confucianism’s viewpoints on kuei-shen at first. Then it explicates Chu Hsi’s concepts of kuei-shen respectively in terms of ch’i, sacrifice and the perspective of practice. These three aspects are connected coherently. Emphasis on practices and the feelings of sincerity and respect character Chu Hsi’s theorv of kuei-shen.
