Jiajing Period Of Ming Dynasty Legend Novel Research

This paper tries to set out original concepts of legendary novels based on historical review of the ancient Chinese literature. Through screening works and doing in-depth analysis in the fields of prototype, genre and catalog compilation levels, which means taking into account both the subject matter and stylistic form, we can find the unique characters or evolution points of the legendary novels in Jiajing Dynasty, which can help us clarify some changes of that era and effectively restore the different face of integration in the refined and popular tastes during transition period.The article is divided into five chapters. In the first chapter, we will rebuild the original understanding of legendary novels in ancient literary context by reviewing historical works and have a brief discussion about why we choose those novels. After that, the construction methods and forms of the text will be focused under the guidance of the novel stylistics’concept so as to get the criteria and real range of those related novels.Chapter two is to explore the characteristics and examine the heritage on theme of the legendary novels in Jiajing Dynasty. We will see how writers deal with those existed motif prototypes in the relative specifications of novel stylistics. Those changes compared to the past can reflect some invisible ideological tendency and restore the moral purpose of writing the legendary novels.Chapter three is to examine the genre of legendary novels in Jiajing Dynasty. Some simple text structure features will be inducted at first. On the basis, we will interpret two directions of legendary novels at that time walking away, one of which is absorbing biographical literature and the other one is grid to poetry form. Meanwhile, we will also try to dig out reasons and motives behind those different postures.Chapter four is to analyze the stylistics of legendary novels in Jiajing Dynasty. Rhetorical devices, allusions and imagery will be considered to figure out their "middle level" role. In addition, as the basic unit, those features in language application will be discussed to examine the penetration situation of refined and popular tastes.Chapter five is to resolve the selection criteria and understanding of editors in order to know the association and interaction that may exist between the theory and practice from the perspective of novel anthology and catalog titles. Compilations and their order in catalog titles and anthology can convey the editors’concept to legendary novels, which are useful to have a further impression on the guidance meaning of theory to practice.
