This paper mainly analyses the rural social changes of the Tang Dynasty in the period of the An Lushan Rebellion, and to explore the evolution of the rural society in the war.In Chinese history, until the Tang Dynasty," village" was officially incorporated into the country’s ruling system, became the lowest administrative level of the government. In the Tang Dynasty," village" has been given to the social significance of system.The village has been developing before the An Lushan Rebellion. Stable social environment provided for family, economy, culture and other aspects of rural society. In the years of Kaiyuan and Tianbao of Tang Dynasty, the rural social has developed to the peak period of the Tang Dynasty, but a number of problems had accumulated during this period, such as the weak resistance of natural disaster, the escape doors throughout the country and the frequent heavy military service, and so on.The An Lushan Rebellion produced tremendous effect to the rural society of the Tang Dynasty. Looking the distribution of the rural villages throughout the country, the economic structure and the control power of the rural villages, we can explore the influence of the An Lushan Rebellion to the rural society in the Tang Dynasty. This paper argues that the An Lushan Rebellion made rural village distribution gradually transfer from the north to the South; the originally yeoman economic development made has changed to the tenancy economic type. Meanwhile, the original strong control of the state to the rural grass-roots became loose, and clan force took the opportunity began to rise, and so on. The An Lushan Rebellion was also produced significant effect on mental status and religious belief of Chinese villagers, and changed the traditional image in the literati.
