Five four of the New Culture Movement gives a thoroughly end of the rule of the feudal system which had been lasted thousands of years in China. The Chinese women, who have been ignored for a long time, can touch the society with their own identity. All of these conditions make the first batch of woman writers of the Chinese Modern Literature. In their works, a very important point is mother and maternal instinct. At the same time, woman writers spend lots of words in maternal instinct, which are more than the words about mothers’objective images. This dissertation try to analyze the woman writers’works in five four of the New Culture Movement, to find the differences between these works and the reasons, which is helpful for us to understand the significance of the first woman writers and the tremendous impact of the Five four of the New Culture Movement.The first chapter analyzes and has the conclusion about unity and difference of mother and maternal instinct, which comes from these parts of daughters’images, wives’images and mothers’images. The women writers, who enter into the literary in the Five four of the New Culture Movement, have the state of mind between love and hate, which makes their most works are about themselves’ minds that lack of objective analysis about the society.The second chapter analyzes the hopes of new maternal instinct from new family and new woman in their works. These new hopes illustrate the huge changes of women writers in creative psychology and creation of the position.The third chapter analyzes the reason of why the mother and maternal instinct become the themes of women works and the women writers’works of maternal instinct value in the Five four of the New Culture Movement, which concludes these parts about enlightenment of women’s individual consciousness, the criticism about feudal ethics, the personality’s publicity and frustration. Five four of the New Culture Movement give the freedom of writing for women, which makes women can have a open mind to show themselves and find independent of individual and spirit.
