Academic procrastination means the time gap between learning task planning and execution in the learning process, the external performance for which is an irrational learning activity, during which learning tasks were postponed though students know they should complete on time. Academic procrastination can lead to lower academic achievement; the negative emotions after it will also have harmful effects on students’ physical and mental health. Class environment and self-determined motivation are two factors that have important effects on academic procrastination. So, this study aims to investigate the correlation between academic procrastination and classroom environment and self-determined motivation, it will be helpful for middle school students to overcome academic procrastination,then cultivate good behavior habits, and it also provides a theoretical basis of education intervention to educators in the future.The method adopted is questionnaire investigation.468students from junior middle schools were conducted to complete three questionnaires, which include The Academic Procrastination Inventory form junior middle school student, My Class and Self-regulated Learning Questionnaire. The statistic methods applied are such as correlate, regression, structure equation and so on. The results are as followed:1. There are statistically significant positive correlations between academic procrastination and four dimensions of class environment, which are the relationship between teachers and students, the relationship among students, the competition environment, the order and discipline. There is statistically significant negative correlation between academic procrastination and the effect of learning load, and class environment can predict academic procrastination significantly.2. There are statistically significant positive correlations between academic procrastination and two motivation types, Which are external regulation and controlling regulation, but there is statistically significant negative correlation between academic procrastination and four motivation types, which are interjected regulation, identified regulation, internal regulation and autonomous regulation. Self-determined motivation can predict academic procrastination significantly.3. Self-determined motivation plays the role of complete media variable on the relation between class environment and academic procrastination, which means class environment, has an indirect effect on academic procrastination mainly through self-determined motivation.
