As a kind of film type comedy movies had appeared in China since the20th century. With the development and maturation of Chinese comedy movies, the film theorists begin to have more and more depth of its research. Throughout the related research in Chinese film theory, most is from the diachronic perspective to analysis the progress of Chinese comedy movies, or from the perspective of film types to analysis the artistic features and content which are in the themes, characters and styles. However, the research from the comic aesthetic perspective is just in the beginning stage.This essay tries to put forward and define the concept of comic character from the perspective of comic aesthetics and focus on this concept in order to summarize the process of the development and evolution in Chinese movies, classify by the types, and explore the artistic expression. In addition, my essay discusses the aesthetic and cultural characters of the comic character in Chinese movies.Whit the latest development of Chinese comedy movies, this paper also attempts to find out the defects of the comic character in Chinese movies and then to put forward some feasible measures to make successful the comic character. Finally, we hope to provide some reference for the future development of Chinese comedy movies.
