Chinese characters is the only used characters in modern times of the word.Chinese characters contain a lot of historical culture. Some scholars believe thatChinese characters are the key factor of unification of China. We can say that Chinesecharacters are the soul of Chinese nation. each structure contains the Chinesetraditional culture. Nowadays, more and more people focus on the cultural connotationwhich implied in the Chinese characters. In my opinion, it’s a new way of Chinesepromotion.In preparing this paper, the author found that the primary Chinese curriculumdoesn’t set up the teaching of Chinese characters. Spoken language is the point duringthe course. On the contrary, the intermediate course does. Unfortunately, only readingand writing courses have set up the teaching of Chinese Characters. Students justimitate how to write a character from teachers’ writing strokes, but they do not knowthe meaning of Chinese characters. Therefore, this paper is expected to convey a newidea that Chinese teaching takes the advantage of the cultural connotation of Chinesecharacters.The first chapter is the introduction which mainly elaborates the researchsignificance and methods. It contains the cultural connotation of Chinese charactersteaching in teaching Chinese as a foreign language. The second chapter is anoverview of cultural connotation of Chinese characters which starts with the analysison the characteristics of Chinese characters and discusses the cultural features actingon the teaching of Chinese characters. The third chapter selects some representativeChinese characters to analyze the glyph custom culture in classifications, but just listsa part of it due to the length of this article. The fourth chapter in view of the situationof Chinese characters teaching in teaching Chinese as a foreign language, analyzesthe new teaching method applied in cultural connotation of Chinese characters. Ibelieve that, through the cultural information to analyse Chinese Characters can rectify the learners’ opinion about Chinese characters learning and improve the interest oflearners, they can know more and more about Chinese culture.
