Resilience has become the most important fields to be researched by theWestern psychology in the recent two or three decades. With the developmentof positive psychology, researches into resilience are gradually increasing inChina. How to deal with the negative events in daily life for the junior middleschool students exactly meets the requirements of positive psychology,making the research perspective switch from concerning about the resilienceof the junior middle school students to finding out the hidden resources.Resilience refers to the individual’s good adjustment in face of adversity,trauma, tragedy or any other great life pressure. It means the “resilient ability”in front of life pressure and frustration. To the junior middle school studentsin the “psychological weaning period”, it plays an important role in buffering,and mobilizing the internal and external resources to do about life pressure.This research studies the general conditions of the resilience of the juniormiddle school students through the measurement of the5aspects the juniormiddle school students’ resilience,6aspects of life events and2aspects ofcoping styles with466junior middle school students as the tested subjects byHu Yueqin’s “Adolescent Resilience Scale”,“Adolescent Life Events Scale”,and Simplified Coping Questionnaires. This research also analyzes theresilience of the junior middle school students on the dimension of thepopulation variables of gender, city-countryside and grade. Besides, thisresearch does relevant and regressive study on the relationship between resilience and life events, resilience and coping styles to define theirrelationship. Therefore, it is helpful to improve the resilience level of juniormiddle school students in education and teaching, and help them deal betterwith the life events, which is of positive significance for their life, study andpersonality development in the future. The results of this research show:(1)middle school students’ psychological resilience overall in the middle level.(2)junior middle school students’ mental toughness in gender difference, girlstudents psychological level is higher than the male student psychologicallevel; however, no significant difference between urban and rural school.(3)junior middle school students’ life events and mental toughness showedsignificant positive correlation.(4) junior middle school students’ coping styleand mental toughness was significantly related, in which the positive copingstyle and mental toughness showed significant positive correlation, negativecoping style and mental toughness was significantly negative correlation.(5)coping style play an intermediary role between life events and on mentaltoughness.
