Contemplation as a concept, even apparently so wide, still has its own venations or detail of lineage in the light of history of ideas. Sharing the same etymon with ’theory’ in ancient Greek,’contemplation’ went its own way later on. There, then, are signs of divergence in the use and meaning of ’contemplation’, not only in the respect of general history of ideas, but also incarnated in the philosophical texts of Gilles Deleuze and Nietzsche, transfigured with their respective energy of thinking and life. This thesis is primarily devoted to the carding of the multiple-use of ’contemplation’ in Deleuze as french neo-Nietzschist and also in Nietzsche, by means of which a further tracing of relevant movements of thoughts will be attempted, in comparison with that in the general history of ideas. Moreover, we will then be lead to the similar question and solution, the latter rather in the sense of a deeper question, on the traditional western subjectivity, by Nietzsche, and then by Deleuze who seemingly prompted by the former has intensified the image of thought introduced by such a problem. An essential deleuzian issue ’immanence’ is inevitably involved in such an evolution of subjectivity, which is, nevertheless, just to be touched in our own manner.Along with such an inquiry as above, there is also a kind of by-pass about the traditional pair of contemplation-action, a better consideration of which, to our mind, could be greatly inspired by an update of the concept of ’contemplation’ itself with a reconsideration of the relation between thought and life. On the other hand, hasn’t such a question on ’contemplation’ itself already been dealing with some practical philosophy?...
