The Piano Manufacturing Technology And Music Theory Research

With the development of piano art history, the manufacturing process of musicalinstruments evolves and develops constantly, which directly affected piano musiccomposing and performing style changement. The shape and structure of claviertransforms time and again in manufacturing materials and structure, for instance,hammerheads from leather coating to felt, back pad from wood to metal, string fromvertical range to cross range, pedal from hand to knee to foot control. The differencesof piano material, shape structure, timbre feature, range scope, volume size indifferent periods influent composer’s creation in genres, melody, range, timbre, andperformer’s techniques in touch key and pedal, thereby complicated and diversifiedstyles of western piano music are formed like decoration, singing, symphonic,colorings and timbre style. Composer and performer’s personal verifications onacoustics and timbre have big relationship with the application of temperament theoryon piano. Piano, as the landmark instrument of western music, besides wide range andgrand volume, more importantly, has endlessly various harmonic polyphonicacoustics. From long musicpractice of western world, keyboard instruments have ever adopted multiple tuningways like“Quasi-Pythagorean temperament”,“Mean-tone temperaments”,“Irregularkeyboard temperament”,“Equal temperament”etc., which gave piano different tuningsystem intension and matching style and taste. To learn the application of tuningmethod in western piano music in different time, and restore tuning system intensionat the time, then we can more accurately hold the era style characteristics of pianomusic works.This paper takes historical periods of western music’s progress as a clue,researches the development and application of piano manufacturing technology andtemperament theory, discusses its influence on musical creation and performanceskills, and then clear the evolution and development of western piano music’s style.The paper consists of three chapters, throughout research status, method and significance, the first chapter detailedly illustrates the relevant research instance athome and abroad, how to practice the research of this project and this project’sresearch value. Based on the transformation of piano structure and manufacturingmaterial, taking time as clue, the second chapter combs european piano craftsmanshipby different times to get clear acquaitment on the whole evolution process of pianoshape and structure; through combing historical evolution of western pianomanufacturing process in different time, discusses influence on creating aspects likegenres, melody, range, timbre, and performer’s techniques in touch key and pedal, inorder to reveal the corresponding correlation piano manufacturing process and theevolution of piano music style. Chord’s special vibration mode makes piano acousticcontaining overtone character of the well-tempered clavier, just intonation andpythagorean intonation. Through theory analysis of piano overtone, the third chapterfirstly discusses its influence on composer’s chord structure arrangement and tuningmode. Thanks to people pursue acoustic perfection, keyboard instruments’ tuningsystem constantly grows and changes, that is from early Pythagorean intonation toMean-tone temperament, Irregular temperament and modern the Well-temperedclavier. Meanwhile, this chapter takes time for clue, combs various tuning ways inwestern times, taking Bach’s The Well-Tempered Clavier as case study, learns theapplication of tuning method in different time, thus we can more accurately restoremusic piece by time style.
