In my master paper, I mainly discuss the relationship between the consciousness-theory and the language, especially focus on the one of the most important Yogacara school work--Vijnaptimatrasiddhisastra which is translated by XuanZang.Consciousness-only theory is usually known as the idealism in Buddhist philosophy, it declares that the cognitive object cannot be separated from the subject. But the challenge from the opponent is that if the object is according to the subject, why we can get such real a perception that a mountain or a river exists. Moreover, why people can have a common sense or communicate with each other. My master paper tries to argue, it is the power of the language in our mind that produced objectivity of the outside world. According to Yogacara School, our consciousness appears as two forms, they are subjective form and objective form. Yogacara used term "akara" to denote the two forms as the one. And akara also means manifolds or various forms of different things. So in the evolution or transformation of consciousness (vijnana-parinama) the subject-object form is the various forms of things as well, because the distinguishes is produced by the function of the distinct consciousness which contains the influence of language in mind. These influence of language which is compared as seeds (bija) stored in sub-consciousness (alayavijnana) from non-beginning. When the consciousness arises, the impact of seeds will make functions (vasana) and produce the forms (nimitta) of things in mind so that we can distinguish red from yellow etc., but actually the world has not such distinguishes. On the other hand, since these forms produced from language seeds are served as cognitive objects (nimitta), people are always making a mistake that they perceive the same cognitive object, but in fact, they are only the forms in resemblance.
