Gaetano Donizetti is the representative personage of Opera Music in early ItalianRomanticism. He and G·Rossini,V·Bellini are hailed as "the Big Three" in Italianopera creation, and he is acclaimed as "a natural composer". He produced about75operas in his life, in addition to that, there were Symphony, Chamber Music (StringQuartet), Oratorio, Cantata, as well as religious music (Masses).Donizetti producedvarious styles of operas.The thesis consists of three chapters. In the first chapter, Donizetti’s life,operacreation and the producing of <L’Elisir d’Amore> are introduced, and also its plotand the background of aria <Della crudele Isotta>are outlined. The second and thethird chapter form the understanding of the character shaping and opera-singingtechniques of the heroine Adina by analyzing specifically the musical form andharmony (micro and macro) of aria and the relation between music and lyrics. Thesinger are required to distinguish three moods in aria, and balance the vivid dramaimage in musical environment, and keep the tension of music and drama. At the sametime, the singer should pay attention to the accumulation of language styles.
