The Singing Art Of Donizetti's Coloratura Works

Gaetano Donizetti is a famous opera composer in Italy.He is called the one of three giants of "Italian bel canto" with Rossini and Bellini.One of his masterpieces,<L'elisir d'amore>is a classic example of his coloratura works.In this paper,the author will explore the singing of Donizetti's coloratura works through analyzing the first act of the opera heroine,the rich farmer Adina's Aria<Della crudele Isotta>.The coloratura works from Donizetti and the counterparts from Rossini in the same period have aimed to show off coloratura techniques to the greatest extent.The differences in various expression techniques of music works in Wagner operas only lie in the fact that most of coloratura works from Donizetti have closely integrated voices with melodies to gradually get rid of the high challenges in showing off coloratura techniques in Rossini Period,especially in the aria of "Della crudele Isotta" of "L'elisir d' am ore".Actually,Donizetti has skillfully applied a variety of coloratura elements into actual melodies.In terms of linear sounds,he has tried his best to exert his voicing talents and singing skills into his works as a singer.By strictly following his own style of conciseness and clarity,Donizetti has attempted to make his works achieve more rich contents in music processes,as well as get more refined inner feelings in portraying characters,as well as strengthening the position of coloratura in the existing performances in bel-canto and opera works.Therefore,it's very necessary and meaningful to further explore his coloratura worksThis paper adopted the following research methods,namely Literature Research Method,Close Reading,Comparative Analysis and Experiential Summary Method.And based on the author's vocal-music learning experience for the past over 10 years,with combination of the theoretical knowledge associated,this paper further summarized and analyzed the singing arts in the coloratura work from Donizetti-"Della crudele Isotta"so as to systemize and theorize the entire work.
