| Taiwan local literature, the same as mainland local literature, hasexperienced a long course of development. Since the beginning of the new century,Taiwan appeared a group of writers who write local literature, and their novelsshow a unique literary style. But compared with the prosperity of novel creation,research on this literature phenomenon is slightly thin. This paper mainly takesTaiwan New Century Local Novels as the research object, taking the narrative ethicsas a starting point, making detailed interpretations of the novels’ narrativeethics, so as to form a more profound understanding of the literary trend.This thesis is mainly composed of three parts by the introduction, body andconclusion. The introduction part mainly discusses the individual freedom ethicswhich reflected in the Taiwan New Century Local Novels and academic researchesabout this literary phenomenon. The concept of individual freedom ethics in thenovel is defined mainly from two aspects of the story ethics and the narrativeethics. The body part consists of three chapters:The first chapter departures from the individual freedom ethics, to interpretthe Taiwan New Century Local Novels’ inheritance and transcendence as well asthe unique local expression. On one hand, the modernity reflective consciousnessand local writing spirit in Taiwan New Century Local Novels embody the inheritanceof novel creation. And the emotional tendency of moral principles and the localnew realistic styles show the transcendence of novel creation. On the other hand,Taiwan New Century Local Novels reveal the free spirit of resistance attitude,showing complex local imagery. The two together create a native of different fromthe older generation on behalf of creation. At the same time, the novels take freelonely countryside figures as the center to expand native trace, discussing theinteractive relationship between the individual and local.The second chapter is in line with the spirit of the idea: from the local tothe individuals, starting from an ethical point of fiction story,sorting out and interpreting diverse native spaces of Taiwan New Century Local Novels, so as toform a rich understanding of individual freedom ethics. In the past local space,on the one hand the individual experiences stray and lonely with the local, goingthrough a life of struggle in the historical context. On the other hand, it containsreflections and aspirations to the traditional ethics. Among Taiwan New CenturyLocal Novels, there are a lot of works showing a kind of self-free survival ofthe individual life. In the modern local space, the writers explore the mentalstate of the individual life and survival value conveyed by individual freedomethics based on native soil. The inside contains both family memories of thetraumatic experience and the plight of the enclosed space of survival. In theunfinished local space, the novels convey an independent language expression,discussing Individual freedom ethics from two aspects of reduced local spirit andreconstruction of individual value.The third chapter discusses the Taiwan New Century Native Novels’ narrativeethics, illustrating the ethical demands of the novel mainly from two aspects ofthe narrative time and the narrative space. The first is the ethical significancewhich conveyed by the narrative time. The novels interpret the ethics effect whichcaused by the text narrative activities by mean time form and different narrativegestures. The second is the narrative space ethics reproduction. Diversifiedspatial juxtaposition and personalized carnival consciousness in the novel allowus to feel the value and significance of freedom ethics.The conclusion part overviews and interprets the paper holistically, and makesfurther reflection of the inadequacies in the research of Narrative Ethics ofTaiwan New Century Local Novels. |
