Battlefield Damage Assessment and Repair (BDAR) is a unique emergency repair program in wartime, which is known as multiplier of combat ability for its agility and effectiveness in damage assessment and repair of equipment. With the gradual deepening of theory and practice of systematic combat under the background of informatization, the request on agility and accuracy of BDAR is at a higher level. Aiming at precise and efficient support, we should strengthen the time schedule and management to obtain accurate prediction, scientific assignment and effective control on repair activities. The schedule length of BDAR depends on multi factors, such as organization system, the resources and techniques available etc., which are interdependent. There are various models on BDAR in existing literature, each of which focuses only on an individual determinant and differs from others in assumptions and applications. This research aims to setup a comprehensive framework to investigate the time schedules of BDAR. In this thesis, I take time as the object and analyze the allocation of repair resources based on time management theory, taking organization system and technique into account, and provide a time schedule optimization method of BDAR. The main contents of this thesis are as follows:1. Duration estimation problem of an individual equipment repair. According to the characteristics of battlefield repair, I set up a model on decomposing and sequencing repair project work packages. I start with categorizing the probability distribution of durations of basic repair activities, then estimate the probability parameters of maintenance events with empirical data, and further estimate the duration of a single equipment repair with Graphical Evaluation and Review Technique (GERT) and Monte Carlo simulation with this model.2. Sequencing optimization problem of repairing tasks within a maintenance position. Facing the situation that multi salvage-and-repair crews and multi recovery operations within a maintenance position, I set up a sequencing model to derive schedule length aiming at minimum total tardiness, minimum schedule length and maximum lateness respectively, and provide the time schedule for a maintenance position with optimization algorithm and heuristic algorithm.3. The route designing problem of the circuit among multi positions. This research analyzes the organization mode and procedure of battlefield repair and proposes a general question on designing the optimal route of the circuit among multi positions. I construct a model to minimize total tardiness and derive the optimal route with combinatorial dynamic programming and genetic algorithm, and hence solve the time schedule problem of overall tasks of BDAR.This research changes time schedule of BDAR from equipment-group-oriented to equipment-platform-oriented, and therefore improves the accuracy in time scheduling and controlling. It provides a theoretical basis for computer-aided decision system of command and control (C2). The results of this thesis could apply directly to making BDAR time schedule and maintenance support plan in military operation. Hopefully this research could help the commanders make support decision correctly and is of significance to theory and practice.
