Theory Of Pepper Ecological Socialism And Its Enlightenment For Building A Harmonious Society In Our Country

Eco-socialism is one kind of socialism school. It started from the western ecological movement in the1970 of the 20th century. Its development experienced three stages.Pepper is a representative of eco-Socialistthought in the 1990 of the 20th century. He put forward his own unique insights. He deepened and promotedthe development of eco-Socialist thought. Compared with other scholars of ecological socialism,his thoughtis closest to Marxism. Pepper also said he was the left-wing in the ecological movement. Pepper’s theory isstill insufficient. But some of his views still have very big enlightenment to Chinese construction ofharmonious society.This paper mainly discusses four aspects.The first part analyzes the historical background, the theoretical sources of Pepper’s theory ofeco-socialism as well as Pepper’s academic research to the problem. Historical background was analyzedfrom two aspects. First, the deterioration of the world’s environmental problems and the awakening of publicenvironmental awareness. Second, capitalism and socialism cannot really solve the problem of deteriorationof the ecological environment. The sources of his theory are mainly three aspects: ecological thinking ofMarxism, Ecological Thought of Frankfurt School and theories of ecology, systematics,and futurology.The second part introduces the main contents of Pepper’s theory of eco-socialism discussed from fouraspects. First, Pepper pointed out that the production of the capitalist way of life is the root causes ofecological degradation and environmental pollution, and the capitalist system is a source of social injustice.Second, Pepper critiqued the ecocentrism seriously,and he thought we should follow the values ofAnthropocentrism in order to solve the the problems of eco-environment.Third, he made a relativelyradical social change routes. Relying on the strength of social change, Pepper emphasized the labormovement is the society transforms an essential strength. In the way of action, he advocated thecombination of the organized workers’movement and the environmental movement. He supported thewithdrawal of trade union work in particular in the form of a general strike and accepted the country’s formof parliamentary democracy. Fourth, Pepper elaborated his vision of the future eco-socialist society fromboth economical and political discourses. In the economical aspect, Pepper advocated moderate economicalgrowth and He put forward his own ideas about the scale of economical activity and economicaloperation. In the political arena, Pepper agreed with the realization of the democracy at the grassrootslevel and stressed the important role of the state or similar organizations in the realization of democracy andgovernance.In the third part Pepper’s theory of eco-socialism is evaluated from the theoretical values anddefects.His theory deeped the eco-socialist before.He played a significant role in deepening andimproving of eco-Socialist thoughts. But his theory has the fantasy, and the feasibility of this theory isnot strong..He focused on the theory of critical.His own theory of the building is not perfect.which islargely yet to be perfect.and need to be continually updated with the deepening of understanding.The fourth part is the inspiration of Pepper’s theory of eco-socialism on harmonious societyconstruction in China. On the economy, we should take economical construction as the central task andstick to the moderate economical growth. Change the mode of economical development,.Take thescience and technology as the support.Develop the circular economy. Develop the green industry. Carryout the green GDP and the system of leading green performance appraisal. In the foreign economicalrelations, persist the principle of equality and mutual benefit and eliminate "foreign garbage".
