The Research On Cyber-bullying Among The Young

The development of technology brings about dramatic changes of information technology with all kinds of new e-communication equipments widely available.Computers and the Internet has become an indispensable necessities of modern life,radically changing the way young people learn,live and think. However,traditional real-life bullying,the problem that has exerted negative impact on the growth of the young for a long time,has once again appeared in the virtual world in the disguise of a new form,the cyber-bullying.The cyber-bullying seems like the sword of Damocles hanging on the head of everyone and constantly threatens the physical and mental health of the youth.Western scholars’study on the phenomenon of cyber-bullying and the increasingly severe situation of cyber-bullying in China are the theoretical footstone and practical basis of researches on cyber-bullying issues.Currently,cyber-bullying reflects in the diversity and uncertainty of its main body,its invisibility and flagrant nature as well as its time-space-free nature and strong spreading ability,which resulting in the irreparable hurt to those bullied young individuals,the unavoidable psychological crisis to youngster and the overall moral degeneration of internet.Objectively,it is the advances in computer technology and network communications technology that provide technological support for cyber-bullying which gave rise to those problems mentioned above;While the subjective reason is:the young people are in a critical period of growing mature,their unique psychologicalc haracteristics such as a strong desire of self-fulfillment,intention of retaliation or hoaxes directly lead to cyber-bullying;Essentially speaking,it is due to the moral anomie of juvenile network, the lack of education in network ethics and laws,and which is more blamable is the degeneration of socio-ethical system as a whole.To disappearance of Cyber-bullying requires the reconstruction of the value system rather than the code of engineer.Therefore,on the basis of the results of western research and practical experiences as well as the features and status quo of China’s cyber-bullying,this article has provided views and suggestions on the guidance and preventions of cyber-bullying from many perspectives including the guidance of education,legal protection,social advocacy and the joint efforts from both school and family,with a view to further promoting China’s research on cyber-bullying and the healthy growth of young people.
