This thesis will through perspective of Chinese who were living in San Francisco to reappear the social background and reasons of boycott of1905and the following influence for Chinese community in San Francisco. Although Chinese had immigrated in the mid nineteenth Century, they could not integrate into American society, because of their particular convention and appearance. In addition, racial ideology and economical conflict with white are also important reason for behaviors of Chinese exclusion. This discrimination and understanding has become a serious danger to Chinese immigrants at the beginning of twentieth Century. At that time, the more and more Chinese immigrants thought the city of San Francisco as their hometown, not workplace. Therefore, they decide to resist the severe surrounding and hope a bright future.At San Francisco, the Chinese newspapers and leaders of Chinatown have played an important role and have given great influence to proceeding of boycott of1905. American economic system, especially mentalities of American merchants, was affected by the boycott movement obviously. Under this social pressure, American government has to make some moderate policies to improve Chinese living condition, so Chinese immigrants’severe living surrounding in San Francisco was alleviated. Since the Qing government has comprehend the power of Chinese immigrants from this movement, he also changed his policies, for instance the resolved of Chinatown reconstruct, and those policies are benefit for Chinese people who lived in city of San Francisco and in United States.In general, the number of Chinese immigrants was limited, but because of their importance status in all Chinese communities in America, their contribution for boycott movement in1905can not be replaced. Therefore, the movement’s influence to San Francisco Chinese community can be seen a miniature of all Chinese communities in America.
