In todays world, human rights cause more and more attention. It is not only atheoretical issue but also a practical issue. Different history and culture cause differentunderstanding on human rights. In particular, some western countries take doublestandards on human rights issues, and take human rights to interfere in the internalaffairs of other countries. To some extent Deng Xiaoping thought of human rights isdeveloping in the process of confrontation with the Western human rights diplomacy.Deng Xiaoping thought of human rights is an important component of ChineseMarxism. It not only helps the development of the socialist construction of humanrights, but also benefits the settlement of international and domestic human rightsissues.This paper mainly divides into three parts to discuss Deng Xiaoping thought ofhuman rights and its contemporary significance.The first part explains the theoretical origin and formation of Deng Xiaopingthought of human rights. It draws on the thinking of the Chinese traditional cultureand Western philosophy, In particular, inherited and developed the Marxist concept ofhuman rights. Deng’s life experiences and the times he lives, especially his youth inFrance during the work-study, the experiences in War of Resistance against Japan andCultural Revolution, played a key role in development progress of his thought ofhuman rights.The second part focuses on the main content of Deng Xiaoping thought ofhuman rights. It mainly includes five aspects, that is, the right to subsistence anddevelopment is the first and foremost human rights; do not forget the sovereigntywhen we take about human rights; The unity of individual rights and collective humanrights;"Common prosperity" reflects the starting point and ultimate goal of his humanrights thinking; The realization of human rights should be protected by socialistsystem, democracy and laws.The third part discusses the significance of Deng Xiaoping thought of humanrights in todays society. Firstly, in theory, inherited and enriched the human rightsthinking of Marxism; Secondly, in practice, point out the development direction forthe socialist human rights; Finally,it is helpful to promote the healthy development ofinternational human rights.
