Historical Study On The General Lines Of Chinese Communist Party From The View Of Modernization

The development of Chinese Communist Party and China’s modernization is unifiedprocess. The general lines (or basic lines) of our party at different times are closely related to thedevelopment of modernization. Hu Jintao pointed out in "Speech at a meeting commemoratingthe90th anniversary of the founding of the communist party of China" that over the past90years, our Party had united with and led the Chinese people in writing a grand epic in the historyof human development on this ancient land of China, evidenced in three earthshaking events.“The first is that our Party, firmly relying on the people, completed the new-democraticrevolution, winning national independence and liberation of the people. The second is that,firmly relying on the people, our Party completed the socialist revolution and established thebasic socialist system. The third is that, firmly relying on the people, our Party carried out a greatnew revolution of reform and opening up, creating, upholding, and developing socialism withChinese characteristics’’. And those three earthshaking events were completed under theguidance of the general line in the new-democratic revolution, the general line in transitionalperiod and the basic line of the primary stage of socialism.Modernization is the theme of modern China’s social development. However, as a latecomerexogenous type of modern country, China’s modernization faced with a series of difficulties. Thereality of the modern semi-feudal society in China makes the fight for national independence andliberation of the people became the essential history of the premise of China’s modernization;Choosing the path of development of China’s is an important condition for promoting thedevelopment of China’s modernization; Finding suitable for China’s development model is adecisive factor in the development of China’s modernization. These characteristics determinedthat the development of China’s modernization must have a strong political party leaders. Andthe Communist Party of China as a product of modern Chinese modernity factor aggregation, shehad assumed the historical mission scine her birth. In different historical periods of Chinesemodernization, Chinese Communist Party have put forward the general line of new democraticrevolution, the general line of the transition period and the basic line of the primary stage ofsocialism,continuing to promote the development of China’s modernization.The general line in the new democratic revolution took the political premise for thedevelopment of China’s modernization. The nature of the modern semi-feudal society in China decided that fighting for national independence and liberation became an inevitable requirementof the modern development of China. But the peasant class and the national bourgeoisie can notaccomplish this historical task because of its own historical limitations, failing to provide ascientific revolutionary program. And on the basis of the correct analysis of China’s nationalconditions, The Communist Party of China proposed the general line of the new-democraticrevolution. Under the guidance of the general line, the Communist Party of China led theChinese people against imperialism and feudalism and completed the historical task of fightingfor national independence and liberation.And those fightings under the guidance of the generalline provided the necessary political prerequisite for the development of China’s modernization.The general line of the transition period provided the institutional foundation for thedevelopment of China’s modernization. Both from the perspective of cultural values, and thedevelopment of reality, China’s modernization choose to take the socialist road with its historicalinevitability. With the role of multiple factors, the Chinese Communist Party made a timelygeneral line of " Industrialization and three transformations", to established the basic system ofsocialism in China. And the Chinese community achieved the transition from New Democracy tosocialism.The basic line of the primary stage of socialism provided the practical approaches for themodern development in China. In process of exploration for China’s socialist modernization road,we have formed two wrong general line and the modern development suffered frustration and hit.After the Third Plenary Session of the Eleventh Central Committee, Communist Party of Chinaresored things to order, and on the basis of summing up historical experience and lessons,gradually formed the basic line of the primary stage of socialism, initiating a new situation ofmodernization with Chinese characteristics.Throughout the development of the general line,it developed in the same strain and closelyintertwined with China’s modernization. From the general line of the new democratic revolutionto the basic line of the primary stage of socialism, the main problems they wanted to solve arealso the problems of the China’s modernization. The whole history of the development of generallines is not only the history about the Communist Party of China growing up, but also the historyof China’s modernization continuing to develop and to make breakthroughs.
