Being Chinese Thai and knowing both Thai and English, I utilized this advantageto adopt first-hand data, expounding systemically how Thailand’s IndependentRegulatory Agency came into existence in Thai politics. I also comprehensivelyanalyzed its significant achievements and problems. Finally, I brought up somespecific and practical suggestions for ameliorating and developing this Agency.The Thailand’s Independent Regulatory Agency was established by theConstitution of the Kingdom of Thailand in1997, which political reform andpromotion of the separation of powers system were its principal purposes. It’s beenalmost two decades that these agencies have supervised the government as well asprotecting Thai people’s human rights, which gained very significant influence.However, they were affected by internal and external factors and continuousproblems as Thailand’s political and social environment changed unceasingly.Several severe problems had effects on the agencies’ procedures and achievements.This article could be the first article which researching the Thailand’s IndependentRegulatory Agency. It provides readers the modern Thai political situation as well asits existing problems. I do hope this article can bring about impetus in China’sacademia to the study of this subject, and can also contribute to the ameliorating anddeveloping of these Agencies. Lastly, I hope that this article will be able to provideChina’s political system reform with some valuable referential opinions.
