At the beginning years of China government founded, theenvironment that China government met was severe. Western imperialismand the Kuomintang made attempts to isolating China on politics,blockading the country on economy and threatening it with their militarypower. With this rigorous situation, Mao insisted on the politic position ofMarxism and drew up flexible and independent diplomatic policy, finallyhe smashed conspiracy of the imperialist countries and the KMT,consolidated the new regime and won enough time for our country’sdomestic construction.Profound, pragmatic and flexible are the main characteristics of MaoZedong’s diplomatic thought. It provides China’s diplomatic stuffs withsolid ideological foundation and scientific theoretical guidance for theestablishment and development of China’s diplomatic career. MaoZedong’s diplomatic thought can roughly be divided into four stagesthroughout the early years since PRC has founded. Raising “three foreignpolicies” is the symbol of first stage,"Two middle grounds "theoryopened the second stage,"one line" theory was practiced in the thirdstage, The fourth stage is the "three world" predictions. The theoreticalcharacteristics of each stage showed reflections of the complicatedsituation of the world environment at that time, highlighting the focus ofconflicts involving China in the international community. These stages precisely reflect scientific rules both in insisting the basic principles ofMarxism and combining with China’s own situation. Above all,diplomatic thoughts of Mao Zedong should be regarded as one mostimportant parts of Marxism process which brings Chinese characteristics.Making the general consideration of Mao Zedong’s diplomaticthoughts, we can find: Independence and peaceful coexistence is theessence of Mao Zedong’s diplomatic thought. We make study through thedevelopment and establish of Mao Zedong’s diplomatic thoughts, we canget some useful experiences to guide the work of foreign affairs of reality.This is the exact reason that we chose this subject and made the furtherresearch.
