The Critique Of Political Judgment

Arendt’s interpretation on Kant’s theory of judgment is unique, because she doesn’t follow the traditional way of interpretation as aesthetics theory, and try to find the possibility of a political philosophy. This interpretation is the centre that constructs Arendt’s later theory of judgment, thus it play the crucial role in our understanding of Arendt’s theory of judgment and politics. In this dissertation, I focus on "the critique of political judgment" to understand Arendt’s interpretation. The main content is following:Firstly, I clear up Arendt’s political theory, in especial her concept of politics, and the emerge and development of Arendt’s theory of judgment; secondly, take the former as context to revealed that Kant’s critique of aesthetic judgment and the definition of reflective judgment, the critical exploration on the principle of aesthetic judgment and its validity in the Critique of Judgment supply the possibilities of Arendt’ critique of political judgment; finally show an unwritten political philosophy, which is put forward by Arendt,und with a view to the critique of political judgment, is apply of the latter:that is, on the one hand, critique of Kant and the tradition of political philosophy that Kant stand for; on the other hand, Arendt’s interpretation is an important link in the development of her political thought, however, it cannot be denied that the basic of Arendt’s interpretation has some problems and they lead to inevitable internal tension of her theory of judgment.
