This thesis mainly studies on the new development about2009Institute Cargo Clauses (ICC) of A terms by comparing with the corresponding1982ICC terms which were established by Institute of London Underwriters. After this paper, I can gain further knowledge and understanding about ICC terms so as to evaluate China Insurance Clauses (CIC) terms which established by PICC and put forward some suggestions for improvement. The paper is divided into four chapters, Chapter1describes the modification process of the ICC terms and it can offer readers a basic understanding. It is the second and third and fourth part of an important chapter which focuses on analysis of2009ICC of A terms. The Chapter2discusses Transit Clause which mainly writes the extension of duration of the2009ICC terms, it covers underwriting risk start time and end time of two aspects of change; Chapter3is Change of Voyage Clause which writes the legal status of hold cover and new provisions of Phantom ship. Chapter4describes exclusions which includes two important changes of2009ICC terms:loss or damage or expense caused by insolvency or financial default of the owners managers charterers or operators of the vessel and unseaworthiness of vessel or craft or unseaworthiness of the ship and the conveyance. Both of them narrow the insurers’exemption range by modifying terms, and they also improve protection of policy holders in good faith. This thesis mainly applies the method of comparative study, comparing the changes of2009version with the1982version of the ICC terms and changes of China marine cargo insurance clauses2009version with the1982version and the ICC terms with CIC terms. The ultimate goal is to learn from the ICC terms to make some changes of CIC terms so that it can promote better development of our marine cargo insurance market.
