The aim of my study is to compare the aid of three important actors in Tajikistan: United States, European Union and China. Whether their assistance to Tajikistan have successfully achieved their objectives or not?Tajikistan is a mountainous and landlocked country in Central Asia. After the independence from Soviet Union, it undergone a seven-year Civil War which greatly obstacle its road to economic transformation. It became the poorest country, which need the foreign assistance urgently in the Central Asia. After the911, Tajikistan became the frontier of anti-terrorism. The main objective of United Stated to provide aid is security concern. U.S. intend to establish military basement in Tajikistan and protect the border security from Afghanistan. European Union’s interests in Tajikistan are:security and stability; economic transformation; democratization and human rights. China’s foreign aid policy normally follows its national interest, its assistance to Tajikistan aims at ensuring the political stability and enhancing economic cooperation with Tajikistan. The excessive emphasis of security assistance made the U.S. ignore of the democratic status in Tajikistan. The European Union’s aid coordination with other international donors contributed the effectiveness of its aid to Tajikistan whereas the democratic situation in Tajikistan kept the same level. China’s assistance, on the other hand, achieved its national interest and would still kept its influence in Tajikistan, but the transparency of aid should be improved to avoid corruption.
