The East China Sea continental shelf dispute has been for a long time and not beensolved effectively. As the two countries’ diplomatic relations is close,in some extent, thecontinental shelf dispute have a adverse effect on other exchanges. With the prominent rolethat resource exploration and energy in the development of national economy, solving thisproblem is more urgent and necessary, more conducive to the development of Sino-Japaneserelations in the long and friendly. This paper aims to analyze the theoretical differences in thedelimitation of the continental shelf on the Sino-Japanese and the causes of the dispute and onthe basis of finding solutions can be agree of both sides. Different policies of China andJapan on the issue also difficult to solve this problem.This paper use literature analysis,empirical analysis, comparative analysis and other methods to collect the existing academicresults on the continental shelf of the East China Sea dispute from a variety ofchannels,combine with reasonable case of the international law of the sea on the delimitationand China’s actual conditions.To distinguish between different theories of Sino-Japanese,draw their own conclusions.The approach has a new consideration on the feasible way intheory and practice and hope to provide a reference for solving the continental shelf of theEast China Sea dispute, and also have a effect on other disputes may arise in the future. Basedon the existing theories of learning help us to perfect our domestic related theories,provideexperience to solve the similar situation and other aspects of the dispute.
