Cognitive load in multimedia teaching process is an important factor to affect the teachingeffect. The knowledge of Junior high school mathematics itself is of high complexity andabstraction, which may cause its multimedia teaching a higher cognitive load. The starting pointand ultimate goal of this study is finding reasonable instructional design and production ofmultimedia teaching materials to control the cognitive load.Based on the literature analysis, in-depth interviews and surveys, I find the currentmultimedia application status in the junior high school mathematics teaching and mathematicsmultimedia teaching effect of the status quo, and comb the existing research results of cognitiveload in multimedia teaching. For the status quo, the first step is to analysis the source of cognitiveload in multimedia teaching of junior high school mathematics and the resulting cognitive load, then analysis which junior high school mathematics knowledge content is suitable for usingmultimedia teaching. For specific cognitive load in mathematics multimedia teaching, based onthe multimedia teaching theory, cognitive load theory, the theory of working memory andmultimedia learning cognitive theory, analyze the causes of the cognitive load, explore the controlmethods of cognitive load from the elements of multimedia instructional design and the design ofmultimedia instructional materials, Such as the segment of teaching objectives, graphiccombination of rendering of geometric concepts, and key labeling act these eight methods. Finally, use the comparative method, combine the key identification and the adjacent trackrendering method together to make multimedia teaching materials. And the teaching materials willbe used in the actual multimedia teaching practice, which will measure the cognitive load and theacademic performance in the teaching process produced by the contrast materials of the controlgroup. The measurement results will be used to test the effectiveness of this control method, inorder to provide some references and suggestions for the multimedia teaching of junior highschool mathematics and improve the effect of multimedia teaching.
