Since becoming an official event of Olympic Games in 2000, Taekwondo has rapidly developed in various countries. So far, like Korea, Chinese Taipei, America, Iran, all their skills and tactics are in the international leading level. In order to learn and analyze the situation of Taekwondo tactics application in Olympic Games further, the paper has a statistical analysis of men’s Taekwondo competition in the 29th Olympic Games. After a statistics of the men’s Taekwondo competition in the 29th Olympic Games by the methods of Video analysis, Document-data and mathematical statistics, the author analyzes the features of tactics used by athletes in combats and then reaches the corresponding conclusions. The study shows that: first, the very beginning of the combat has a vital effect to the whole round; second, in the second round, to reserve physical power is the main tactic which is prepared to have a effective attack or defense; third, with different points (advantage, deuce, and lag) entering into the third round, different athletes use different tactics. In the case of deuce or close score, it is the key to winning the games that the athletes use the initiative attacks or flexible tactics; fourthly, In the third round, if you are in the first place but take a negative tactic, you may loose the game; fifthly, in the fourth round, though the winner is the person who gets the score firstly, an effective counterattack can easier get score than a blind attack; sixthly, Border-corner tactic plays the most important role in the competition, no matter how much time left or how many scores the athletes got, which can directly affects the result of the competition; seventhly, Confrontation is the base of making and seeking tactics and it is an important component element of competition in Taekwondo games. Through the analysis of the representative case, we find that excellent athletes in games know how to adjust their tactics according to games’situation, the scores and the status of competitors. If taking advantage, the athlete should be more cautious, and in the case of lag, they shouldn’t be irritable but treat each rivalry seriously and arrange the tactics rationally.Through having an analysis of the tactics in the 29th Olympic Taekwondo men’s competition, we can know the tactics application among present high-level Taekwondo athletes, which will offer reference when our men Taekwondo athletes take part in high-level competitions and when our coaches conduct the match.
