The application of English songs for teaching is that teachers can use Englishsongs loved by the students to the English teaching in the classroom. In both relaxedand rich interesting atmosphere, teachers lead students to grasp the knowledge ofEnglish and English language skills in English teaching activities. As an importantpart of English-speaking countries culture, English song has its unique meaning.English song which has vivid images of English can spread the customs of theEnglish-speaking countries. They are also rich English language materials which canbe provided to English language learners. It has a very special significance in theoptimization of the English classroom atmosphere and enrich the forms of Englishteaching. Especially for high school students who want to hear music, English songscan enhance their interest in learning English better. So it is an effective means toEnglish teaching.In this paper, there are three main issues of English teaching ideas and methods,during the application of English songs in junior high school. They are as follows:(1) Whether it helps improve the junior high school students’interest in learningEnglish?(2) Whether it is able to achieve the desired effect of teaching ability to improvetheir English achievement?(3) How can we apply the English songs into the English class in junior highschool.Through experiments and research of a semester,the results of the application ofEnglish songs to English teaching in junior high school is still very significant. First,it will help to stimulate and to develop junior high school students’interest in learningEnglish by the application of English songs to a variety of teaching methods ofEnglish class in the junior high school to render learning content. Second, accordingto the theory of English songs teaching, it can effectively improve the efficiency ofEnglish teaching in junior high school, and significantly improve the academicperformance of students’English. Then it can receive the expected teaching aims. Third, to listen to English songs, to remember the lyrics, to learn to sing English songs,to play English songs games, to do duet, to perform the English song performancesand other activities are carried out under the guidance of the teaching of English songstheory. In actual teaching, appropriate use of these activities can play an activeclassroom atmosphere, improve students’interest in learning English, and tap thepotential of students and so on.The thesis is divided into seven parts. The first part introduces the researchbackground of the paper, the significance of the study and thesis structure. The secondpart is a literature review, which introduces the related concepts, the meaning andEnglish songs at home and abroad for teaching and research status. The third part isthe theoretical foundation which introduces the structural theory, the theory ofmultiple intelligences and cooperative learning theory. The fourth part introduces thedesign and methods of the study. The main contents include research purposes, theobject of study variables to determine the research methods and procedures. The fifthpart is the collection and analysis of research data, an overview of the research datacollection and analysis of the situation, including classroom observation data statisticsand analysis, interviews, questionnaires statistics and analysis of statistics and dataanalysis and test data. Part six summarizes the revelation of the study limitations, themain experimental results.Following the law of language cognition, teachers find English teaching methodsand content to guide students to use their own favorite way to learn English. It will bean effective way for English teachers to teach English. The application of Englishsong in teaching is an operational art of teaching which is carried out according to theEnglish Curriculum. It is not intended to replace the leading English languageteaching. But it would be easier for students to like English and produce thepsychological tendency of an operating drill. Application of English songs to Englishteaching is simple and operable. It can help students overcome the fear of learningEnglish and can effectively develop students’interest in learning English, resulting inthe need for learning. If English teachers want students to be interested in theimplementation of English songs, it is necessary that they can play the role of both musical and psychological experts. They also have the ability of bringing students to abrand new world of music from a boring world of textbook. Then they canindependently learn to sing and produce the resonance of music. English song has itsown unique charm. With authentic exotic tunes from a completely different way ofperformance, English songs have great allure for students who prefer the pursuit ofindividuality. If we are able to guide correctly, we can transform this temptation intothe interest in learning English and the inner power of learning English. Then it canencourage the students to take the initiative to acquire knowledge and to experiencethe joy of reaching the goal. As a result, it can achieve a multiplier effect. Therefore,it is one suitable physical and psychological methods of English learning for juniorhigh school.
