English learning is an integrated and complicated process including four skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. And among these four, as a tool of communication, writing is a very important communicative method. And the NMET gives a higher request on senior students’writing ability. Experts and teachers have tried a variety of strategies to teach English and English writing. Despite their advantages and theoretical basis, these methods, traditional or creative, do not make any effective difference in writing classes in high school. One of the most fatal and unavoidable problems in students’writing is that the sentences they have written are not real and authentic English. They are Chinglish created from the students’Chinese thinking. And writing is still a most difficult part in English teaching and learning, to both teachers and their students. With the introduction of all these series of teaching methods, many people forget or neglect a traditional method---recitation, which is proved effective in our mother tongue learning. In this paper, the writer reviewed some related theories about language learning and recitation and develop a study of interest-based recitation in a semester among two classes of senior I students. The study shows that learners’ English proficiency in writing is improved faster than that of the control group. Meanwhile, students form a better language feeling by a large amount of recitation than those of the control group. As a result, they are more capable in doing the reading comprehension and cloze test. So the writer makes a conclusion that interest-based recitation makes senior students’writing more efficient. The paper consists of six chapters. It includes the research questions, subjects of the research, research instruments and data collection.Chapter V analyzes the results of this research and conclude the discovery and also points out the problems and the direction of future research based on this research.Chapter VI concludes the research. On the basis of the research, the writer comes to the conclusion that interest-based recitation is an efficient method to improve senior students’writing ability.
