How to improve senior three students’ writing ability? It is the question that has beendiscussed for a long time. Teachers strain themselves to find ways improving it, to balanceteaching and learning. However, the results fail everyone; that is to say, writing to students ismist to the lost. To better this embarrassing situation, teachers and their students have tocooperate well to make the teaching and learning easier for them.The key to solve this tough question is to find out the affecting factors. Among all thefactors, some are considered to be more important, namely, inside and outside environment,words and tests, grammar, native language transfer and teaching method. They are found outby the ways of questionnaire, interview teachers and students and case analysis. This papertries to make a further study on the above five factors. The purpose of this paper is to make adecision on how to solve this problem and find ways to improve the effects of senior threestudents’ writing as well as senior three students’ writing ability.However, the study in this paper is by no means exhaustive due to the restriction of timeand area. Some other problems need paying attention to for they are regarded as the factorsaffecting the students’ English writing and worth further studying.
