As everyone knows, English learners, especially high school students,to improve the ability of English writing are very important. English writingability is one of basic ability in learning English. There are clear requirementsin the ordinary high school English Curriculum Standard to high schoolstudents’ English writing. The English writing in the college entranceexamination is worth thirty points, it totally one fifth of the whole score. Sofrom a certain extent, writing is the English exam was the key to success.Therefore, how to improve English writing ability is getting more and moreEnglish teachers`and students`attention. The one method of improving theEnglish writing ability of students widely concerned is discourse cohesionresearch. Cohesion and coherence in English writing teaching is veryimportant. It is one of the criteria to judge the integrity, consistency andquality; but also reflect the important basis of the writing ability.Questionnaire survey was carried out in this study. The author argues thereare great helps that cohesion of error analysis theory and cohesion in Englishwriting for students to improve their writing. The hypothesis is students`errors in cohesion are the key point of the essay failure. Then the author getinformation from the senior high school students of Ulanqab City, and theirteachers; and getting their mock test in the composition of the March, to studyCohesion Errors of discourse analysis. Investigation and analysis showed: inEnglish writing of senior high school, students generally feel hard to write acomposition and get low scores in writing, most of the teachers and studentsnot to writing the text cohesion given due attention, and this problem hasbecome the obstacle to improve students’ writing ability. The aim of the studyis to find out what are the overall errors of cohesive devices of students`writings and what is the frequency of errors in cohesive devices that used instudents`compositions. Cohesion of master degree and effect of fractional degree should arouse the teachers and students to pay more attention tocohesion in discourse. How to write meaningful grammatical sentences havebeen difficult to students in English writing process, but to make the articlebecome coherent is more difficult. At the same time the author find theproblem that in students writing; to correct these errors are faced with theserious problems. Discourse cohesion and coherence requires not only theteachers have relevant background knowledge also requires students to havethe ability to accept the concepts. More importantly, this problem is not assimple as the language appearance, it also relates to the cultural, social andideological fields. So for the teachers future task is even serious.
