It is universally acknowledged that more and more teachers and researchers attachgreat significance to the role of lexical chunks in language acquisition with the developmentof the corpus linguistics. Lexical chunk refers to a sequence of continuous or discontinuouswords, which is stored and retrieved from memory at the time of use. Regarded as“form-function composites”, Lexical chunks are highly thought of and believed to be the idealunits of language learning and teaching.Recently, many scholars arouse a great interest in the combination between theLexical chunk and English writing in high school. However, most of the present researches onlexical chunks still rest on the theoretical discussion and are involved with the definition andclassification of lexical chunk. It is self-evident that studies on the utilization of lexicalchunks in a systematic way are still required to have further exploration. There is no denyingthe fact that writing is one of the language skills, which belongs to be the important part of theability in language using. Meanwhile, many students have difficulties in English writing andexpressing themselves in English in a proper way. Thus, the author emphasizes the newconception of lexical chunk schema on the basis of lexical chunk theory and schema theoryby means of many studies from home and abroad. Lexical chunk schema provides studentswith plenty of lexical chunks organized in a certain topic on the purpose of attracting students’interest in English writing.The application of lexical chunk schema in English writing teaching will be ofimportance in guiding the development of language teaching because of its specific training.The author selects some of the students from two parallel classes in the First Middle School inZhangzhou and makes an order for them to be the subjects in random. Based on the accuracyof the teaching experiment between these two classes, the teacher combined lexical chuckschema to writing teaching in experimental group while the other group follow traditionalmethod. And this process also focuses on some investigation and questionnaires with thecontrast of some data such as the scores and numbers of chunks before and after theexperiment. In order to improve the function of lexical chunk schema in English writing, thisresearch employs a series of tests with an integration of SPSS statistic tool.
