| Argumentation has been called the language of science, and it has been identified as a possible tool promoting conceptual. Argumentation is just a new research field, but has become prominent in science education literature. Although curriculum stan-dards don’t put forward’Argumentation’, in the areas of nature and life, there are several ability indicators of argumentation. For example, Reasonable verify and query other people’s answer and reports, discuss the different ideas and methods with other people, and choose the best one. Some foreign countries had already used argumenta-tion in school science education. But in mainland China, the science argumentation literature is quite limited.This study uses Toulmin’s and Lakatos’models of argument to investigate the undergraduates’skills of argumentation. Both results are that the undergraduates’ skills of argumentation need to be improved. When college students accept or rise ideas, most of them can’t consider the matter in its entirety. They prefer use the argument which support their own viewpoint, and even someone never consider other people’s ideas, don’t know what other person think of the same question, and can’t refute different views.To improve the undergraduates’skills of argumentation, universities should make much account of argumentation, culture their critical thinking, for helping them have a rational thinking. With a better argumentation skill, they will have better science literacy. |
