| Since the birth of STS education in the1970s, it has been a hot areaof the international science education, and views on STS is also a hotterm. However, due to the richness and complexity of the STS view, makes the evaluation of the views on STS have a lot of difficulties andchallenges. This paper attempts to study the assessment tool of high schoolstudents’ STS view. In this study, I am based on VOSTS (views on science-technoloyg–society) which is made by Canadian sicentist Aikenheadand it cost Aikenhend six years to develop. The first step of my work is todetermine the reliability and validity of the questionaire I have made. And then to improve the questionaire. After the revised questionaire isprepared, then to test the students’ views on STS officially. And also totest the revised questionaire’s reliability and validity. And from the data,we can see both the situation of students’ views on STS and the effectof the STS cirriculum. Beacase the other test is after students’ having aterm of STS education. The method used in this study is questionnaire. From the data of thestudy, I draw the following conclusions.1. After the localization of the VOSTS, the revised questionnaire’sreliability and validity are high. So it is a trustworthy tool.2. Students’ views on STS should be further improved. Views on STS inthis study is divided into four areas which are understanding of scienceand technology, internal sociology of scicence, external sociology ofsicence and the methodology of science and technology. The datagot shows students should impore their understanding of the aboveareas. And also they need teachers’ guidance.3. STS courses have a certain effect. Although the views on STS ofthe students should be improved, after a semester’s STS curriculum, the students views on STS impoved. However, we still need to be develop awider range of STS courses to further improve the students views onSTS.However, there are also many deficiencies in this study, such as, thestudy object is limited, only students of the Shanghai ExperimentalSchool; validity of the questionnaire needs to be further improved. These deficiencies can be constantly improved in future research. |
