The teaching of maths is the teaching of mathematic activities. Itsan integration of students learning activity and teaching on theteachers part. Presently, to improve the students learning style and theteachers teaching method is set as a major task in the Second Phase ofShanghai Curriculum Reforming Project, which is also an importantfactor in assessing the success of the curriculum reform. Presentteaching focuses on encouraging student learning and starts to awayfrom a knowledge-based teaching method in order to overcome thetendency of over emphasizing knowledge teaching and skilltraining.This teaching principle adopts and stresses an inquiry teachingmethod, encourages the students initiative,inquiry and cooperativelearning. As a constructive theory, APOS Theory is one of the fewmathematic theories based on the unique features of the mathematicsubject. It holds that in learning mathematic concepts, first of all themathematic problems in question should be related to socialreality. The students are required to take part in various mathematicactivities, in which the students make necessary inductions about thebackground and definition of the relative concept on the basis of hisprevious knowledge and experience, carrying out calculation andabstraction so as to construct the concept. Therefore, it is of greatimportance to apply APOS Theory in teaching mathematic concepts.Vector is a basic major concept in modern mathematics, a toolwhich people use to describe the world. At the same time, it serves asa bridge linking algebra, geometry and trigonometry. Studying planevector deepens students understanding of mathematics and lays afoundation for their further study and development. The trend ofmathematics teaching has shown the increasing significance of plane vector in high school mathematics. Yet the understanding of theconcept of vector proves a challenge for the students. In view of theabove mentioned, this essay intends to discuss the application of APOSTheory in teaching senior high school mathematics based on areflection of traditional teaching principle.This essay consists of three parts: Part One deals with the theoreticalbasis, implication, model, characteristics of APOS Theory, and discussesthe feasibility and necessity of applying APOS in the teaching of vectoras well as the actual teaching model. Part Two is an empirical study ofteaching plane vector in the perspective of APOS Theory. Theconclusion and reflection part states the conclusion, suggestion forteaching,weakness and orientation for further study.This research is based on previous study, taking the method ofliterature review, questionnaire and case analysis. Starting from theidea that adopting APOS Theory improves teaching efficiency, thisresearch tries to expound on the influence which applying APOS Theoryin teaching has on the students comprehension of the concept ofvector....
