The new curriculum requires teachers return class time to students,so that the students take their own initiative to explore, think anddiscover, and then form their own geographical capability. Currently, there are some problems in the High school geography teaching, themost common are the following: First, teaching concepts and teachingmethods are too old; Second, teaching methods more apparent, amere formality; At last, focus a lot on the result, but ignore the wholeprocess.By learning and thinking the theory of “Learning Scaffold” and“Zone of Proximal Development”, we found that we can build the“Learning Scaffold”, and with the help of the “Learning Scaffold”,students can make a smooth transition from the “existing level ofdevelopment” up to the “potential level of development”. When thestudent passed the “Zone of Proximal Development”, they also builttheir own knowledge and promoted their capability.“Earth movement" is the focus of high-school geography, and it isalso a major difficulty. Not only the teachers find it difficult to teach, but also the students feel it difficult to learn. This paper attempts tocombine teaching of “Earth Movement” with building of the “LearningScaffold”, and then discuss the strategy which used in them. This Paper has six parts: The first chapter briefly introduces thesubject of the background, literature relevant to the studycomprehensive, purpose and significance of research, ideas andmethods. The second chapter is an overview of the theory of “LearningScaffold”. Including what is the “Learning Scaffold”, the theoreticalbasis of “Learning Scaffold”, and the classification of it. Chapter3usesa survey to understand the existing level of development of a highschool freshman on the "Earth Movement". Next, we got the “potential level of development” of the students according to the" high schoolgeography curriculum standards (experimental)” which promulgatedby the Ministry of Education and also according to the peoplesEducation Publishing House issued" compulsory geography " which isnow widely used in the high school. Chapter4also uses a survey toknow the obstacles when the student study the "Earth movement" andwant to pass the “Zone of Proximal Development”. According to thetheory and survey mentioned in the previous chapters, chapter5willgive the strategy which will be used to build the “Learning Scaffold” of"earth movement". Chapter6will give some summary and outlook, itincluded some experience we got from the building the “LearningScaffold” of "earth movement". At last, we list some points if we want todo further research.
