Vocabulary is one of the most important elements in one language. It can help to express the exact meanings as well as the emotion. Therefore, vocabulary teaching is paid more and more attention in language teaching. As one important part of language teaching, the presentation of vocabulary is also attached more importance in and out of China. However, the study in primary school is much less in our country. Being on the basis of vocabulary teaching in primary school, the thesis mainly studies the condition of various presentation modes. It also studies the difference between higher class and junior class. The goal of the study is to find out the problems and the according measures.The study takes eight teachers and two hundred students of Tianjin Elementary Primary School as the object. By the means of teaching observation, teaching recording, analyzing teaching plans and interviewing students, the study mainly focuses on the following questions: Firstly, the distribution of different modes of presentation in primary school. Secondly, how do teachers choose the correct modes according to different students and vocabulary. Thirdly, What do students think of different modes of presentation. Fourthly, what should teachers do to improve the vocabulary teaching according to different students and vocabulary.From the classroom observation and date analysis, findings are finally obtained:In actual teaching, teachers will choose correct presentation modes according to different students. Totally speaking, presentation with feeling is much more used by teachers, however, teachers can also choose the more correct modes according to different vocabulary. Teachers in Grade Six tend to use the mode of description. According to the questionnaire, students like the mode of games very much, which is obviously different from the teachers’choice. At the same time, students in Grade Six will more approve the mode of description, which explains that different students like different modes, so teachers should choose the best mode to improve the vocabulary teaching.
