Empathy as a motivation of prosocial behavior, can improve the ability of interpersonal interaction effectively,actively promote high School students1socialized development.Classroom silence is a negative influencing factor of teaching effectiveness in English class.It will hinders the students’flexibility of thinking if not be treated well. Also it can reduce the learning effect of English and impact the intercommunion between the teachers and students.The research takes the English class in high school as the background to investigates the current situation on empathy and silence in English class.It also investigates the relationship and the influence function between them.The purpose of this research is to revise an empathy questionnaire and a silence questionnaire of English class according with the characteristics of high school students.We can provide the theoretical evidence and the questionnaire for the related research between them. We can investigates the current situation and the relationship on empathy and silence in English class of high school students by using the questionnaire. The research is based on the theoretical evidence of the related research between them.At the same way, This research revises the initial empathy and silence questionnaire of English class in the high school,that is combined with the open-ended questionnaire and the interview.The preliminary questionnaire is revised to a formal one by many examinations.We use the formal questionnaire to survey the current situation and the relationship on empathy and silence in English class of high school students. The results is underline:The empathy questionnaire includes three factors,that are named cognitive empathy,emotional empathy and behavioral empathy.This questionnaire is consisted of20items.The silence questionnaire in English class of high school students includes three factors,that are named cognitive classroom silence,emotional classroom silence and behavior custom classroom silence.This silence questionnaire is consisted of21items.All the examinations has meet the criterion of psychometrics,such as Concordance coefficient,test-retest reliability and construct validity of these two questionnaires. So these questionnaires can be used as tools on the related research.The whole level of empathy of high school students is medium.At the same time,the whole level of silence in English class of high school students is higher than medium.There is significant gender difference,class type difference and grade differences on both empathy and silence.The related analysis can show us that there has significant negative correlation between empathy and English classroom’s silence in the high school,and moreover,empathy has obviously negative predictable functions.
