In2009January, China’s three largest telecommunication operators were officiallyobtained the3G license, from then on, our country has entered the era3G of the high-speedinformation technology, which, as the third generation communication technology, has thecharacteristics of high speed data transmission, and overcomes the low speed of datatransmission and the narrow band width of technical bottlenecks in the first and the secondgeneration of mobile communication technology, promoting the further integration betweenthe mobile communication network and the traditional Internet, and encouraging the rapiddevelopment of phone media based on mobile Internet.Since entering the new century, the party and the government attach great importance tothe work of college counselors, who have achieved remarkable achievements. After China’sentry into the3G era, with the continuous development of information technology, the way ofpeople getting information is broadening and diversified, making students’ thinking becomemore active, thoughts become more diversified, so college education environment andcounselors’ work requirement will produce a very big change. We should clearly realize thatthe work of college counselors is facing more and more new problems and new situationwhen we get achievements. The rapid development of the3G mobile phone media has notonly changed students’ mode of thinking, value orientation and behavior, but also broughtgood opportunities and severe challenge to the work of counselors. College students are themain force of a new technology and new media, and high college is becoming the forefront ofthe information development and the application of new media, so instructors can use newmedia and new technology to strengthen the students’ education and management work. Atthe same time, college counselors’ working mode is subjected to the impact, their workingdifficulty is increasing, their quality needs to rise urgently, so counselors’ quality and workingmethods have not been able to adapt to the students’ education and management work in thenew situation and new requirements. In the era of3G, how to further strengthen the work ofcollege counselors, to better adapt to the new situation and new requirements and create counselors’ work in the new situation, has become an urgent problem of theory and practiceto study and solve.At present, the research on this field is less, even though there are some similar researches,they are not systematic and deep, which is not enough to effectively lead and guide theCollege Counselors’ work in the3G times. This paper, based on the in-depth analysis andstudy of3G times mobile phone media on influence of college counselors’ work, proposes thereasonable effective countermeasures to how to strengthen their work, provides the referencefor the future research in the field, and provides theoretical basis and practice guidance fortheir practical work.This paper mainly uses the literature research, questionnaire survey, comparative analysis,interdisciplinary studies and other research methods, and is mainly divided into three parts.The first part is an overview of3G and mobile phone media. It discusses the3G and3Gnetwork concept, the concept and the characteristic of3G era of mobile phone media. Itinvestigates the use of mobile phone media, taking the counselors and students from fouruniversities in Hebei province as the research object and also relates the relationship between3G mobile phone media and college counselor’s work according to the survey results,providing the necessary research foundation for the paper following part. The second part isabout the influence of3G era of mobile phone media on college counselors’ work. Combinedwith the research results and the author’ real work as a counselor, it sums up the opportunitiesand challenges which mobile phone media in3G times has brought to counselors’ work. Theopportunities are in favor of college counselors to expand space, update ideas, and innovatemethods of work. Challenges put forward to higher requirements to college counselors’qualities and abilities, making their work more difficult, their work patterns impacted. And itanalyses deeply the causes of challenges: the first, college counselors’ work isn’t given toomuch importance; the second, the counselors’ own quality does not meet the requirements ofthe new situation; the third, the counselors’ work ideas and methods lag behind thedevelopment of new technologies. The third part shows how to strengthen the workcountermeasures of college counselors, which is the key, the difficulty, and also the footholdof the paper. On the basis of in-depth study on opportunities, challenges and causes brought by3G times mobile phone media to college counselors’ work, it puts forward reasonable andeffective measures to college counselors’ work with the research principle of "people-oriented,advancing with the times ". First of all, college counselors’ work should be further improvedseriously in the3G era: the first is that the college should improve the understanding level ofcounselors’ work; the second is to increase the investment of counselor work; the third is toincrease the counselors’ work in scientific research; the fourth is to increase the counselors’work protection efforts.Secondly, counselors should strengthen their own ability: the first isto improve their own ideological and political qualities; the second is to improve their ownnetwork information literacy; the third is to improve their knowledge structure; the fourth isto expand their own comprehensive qualities continuously. Finally, the full use of mobilephone media and innovative instructors’ working methods should be made. Make full use ofcampus newspaper, mobile phone micro-blog, mobile phone IM, mobile phone SNS oncollege students’ various education, management, guidance and service work.
