The mathematical concept of culture has been attached greatimportance to the education sector and several academics. Accordancewith the theory of culture in mathematics curriculum standards(trialversion), and based on analyzing others understanding towardsmathematics culture, the author borrowed ideas from curriculum leveland defined the mathematical culture in the system of concept level,which includes mathematical spirits, mathematical sense and awareness,thinking methods of mathematics, beauty of mathematics, and historicalmaterials of mathematics.In this study, the author chose Beijing Normal University (BNU)Edition textbooks as the research object, and used text analysis to classifyand organize the content of mathematical culture in the textbooks. Theauthor used interview to survey students and teachers’ identity towardmathematical culture, and proposed some suggestions. The main findingsare as follows:1. There is a serious among each field.2. The distribution is lack in each grade. 3. The content of the games is too mathematical.4. The arrangement of content is incoherent.5. The description of background knowledge is too superficial.Based on the findings above, the author proposed somerecommendations are as follows:1. Increasing the presentation of mathematical culture in the field of"Space and Shape","Statistics and Probability". Such as scientists usedprobability to help the U.S. Navy escaped the attacks of the Japaneseships successfully in the World War II.2. Selecting much more interesting and meaningful games, and adjustingthe mathematical games appropriately. Excluding pure math games, andincreasing the intelligent part, which makes game more interesting andattractive.3. Focusing on the restruction and presentation of the content ofmathematics culture. The editors should not only consider the students’reception ability but also deliberate the scrutiny scientifically.4. Increasing the in-depth presentation of mathematical culture inteachers’ book. on one hand, it can provide the materials for teachers, onthe other hand, it also can to strengthen teachers’ understanding toward mathematical culture.
