Since the third education reform which began in the1970s, Japan has been continuallypursuing diversification and personalization of education. Yet in the background of decliningbirthrate and overemphasis on academic diplomas, as the bridge that connects basiceducation and higher education, high school education confronts the challenges in theprocess of development. Therefore, since recent years, Japan has launched many approaches,for example, a program called high-school-university cooperation, the reform of collegeentry exam and the curriculum. They are intended to facilitate the articulation between highschool education and college education, to enhance high school students’ learning ability andin the meanwhile to provide a new platform for the selection of college students. The studyon the specific implementation measures, the exploration into its essence and nature, anddiscussion about its development trend will shed light on the related education reform inChina.This thesis includes five chapters, to elaborate the approaches in the articulationbetween high school and college, and further dig out the underlined rules, intending to getsome inspiration for China’s senior high education.Chapter One: The out-coming and content of policies concerning the articulationbetween high school and college, including the background, history, and detailed contents ofthese policies.Chapter Two: The collaboration between college and high school aiming at thearticulation. Through the discussion on its historical development, objectives, status quo, thesignificance of collaboration on the articulation will be uncovered.Chapter Three: By college entrance exam reform, the articulation between high schooland college is accomplished. With the specific cases, the author will analyze the centerexam, AO entry exam and recommendation entry, and further reveal how thearticulation between high school and college is accomplished by these systems.Chapter Four: By curriculum, to realize the articulation between high school andcollege. The author will focus on the school entry guide and first year education, and discussthe function of curriculum on the articulation.Chapter Five: The future development and inspiration of the articulation between high school and college. Based on the discussions in the above chapters, the author will predict itsdevelopment and summarize its implications that would benefit China.
