The cultural prosperity in Pre-Qin history brought about contention of a hundredschools of thought. At that time, Confucianism had great influence and practicedpolicies related to politics, which conformed to the politics-education route and shownas the implementation of education policies, the set of education system and theprevailing of education privileges. It is well known that Lao Zi’s theory of inactionwas unique among these schools. Teaching without words characterized by doingnothing against nature or inaction contrasted sharply with Confucianism and to someextent it criticized and denied educational promotion of Confucianism. Actually, education without saying in educational field embodied governing bynon-interference policy at macro level. And it destructed the fixed and plausibleeducational phenomena, and constructed a new educational landscape conforming totheory of inaction, which has had wide implications for education past and present. The thesis consists of five components: Introduction, Theory of educationwithout saying deconstruction of education by Lao Zi. The reason and result ofdeconstruction of education and implication for education.Introduction part consists of the reasons and significance of choosing the topic, the purpose of research and other relative issues.Besides, by comparing theory of LaoZi with deconstructionism, it proves the value of Lao Zi thought in modern society onone hand, and finds an appropriate way to criticize and oppose Confucianism on theother hand.Chapter One puts forward the theory of education without saying by definingSay and No Say. Furthermore, it discusses the significance of in politics and education, the theoretical base and the relationship between education without saying and Tao.Chapter Two is the first main body of this thesis. Based on the analysis of thepolitical, cultural and educational background of the age in which Lao Zi lived, itdeals with the contents of destructing education. Of course, as education withoutsaying is the only content which represents the educational thought of Lao Zi in the book Lao Zi, and, as education in Pre-Qin mainly depends on politics, so in fact, LaoZi deconstructs education first by recognizing and the unreasonable educationalphenomena in his time and then by deconstructing some aspects in politics.Chapter Three is another main body of the thesis, which discusses the reason andresult of destruction of education by Lao Zi. As for the reason, it analyzes valueorientation, the basis of theory of knowledge, and methods of education withoutsaying. As for the result, it discourses the novel methods, the new aim, and theoriginal management concept. The last chapter mainly deals with implications for today’s education, whichinvolves the aim of education, arrangement of courses, teaching methods, and theteacher-students relationship.
