The Olympic Games always attract the eyes of the world, and the London Olympics was noexception, among which basketball was one of the most attractive projects. Chinese men’sbasketball team, as a traditionally strong team in Asia with high hopes, has grown rapidly inrecent years. With Yao Ming as the team leader, the Chinese men’s basketball recorded breakingachievement that it has won the Asian Games and Asian Championships, and ranked the eighthin the Olympic Games twice. In2011, Yao Ming seriously injured again and announced hisretirement, which was a heavy blow for the Chinese men’s basketball team which was in itsrising stage, but the players withstood the pressure and won the championship of men’sbasketball game in the2010Asian Games; in World Championships in Turkey it only ranked the16thwith luck; in Asian Championships in2011, under the new official rules, with one pointadvantage it got the chance to take part in London Olympics in the final. Without Yao Ming, theChinese team needed to make greater efforts and beat all the powerful enemies on the road ahead,if it wanted to equal or exceed previous achievements. What’s more, whether they can adapt tothe new rules and the court was also the key factor determining the result.Coming along with the birth of basketball, the basketball rules have achieved continuousimprovement in the development of basketball and ensured a comprehensive and orderlydevelopment of basketball. While the continuous update of basketball rules guarantees thesmooth progress of the game, it also increases the enjoyment and suspense of the games, promoting the development of basketball and attracting more people to watch and even toparticipate in the sport of basketball. In2010, FIBA updated the official rules:1)extending thedistance of the three-point line;2)adding no-charge semi-circle in restricted areas;3)changing theshape of the restricted areas and enlarging the size;4)redefining the throw-in place after time-outduring the last two minutes of the fourth period or each extra period and adding throw-in line infrontcourt;5)redefining the24seconds and14seconds. Every change of the rules will causetransformation in basketball, making all teams stand on the same starting line. The team that canbetter adapt to it earlier is always able to achieve greater success. In2010-2011season, CBAfully introduced the new official rules and after the adaptation of the season, Chinese Men’sbasketball team won the championship in the2011Asian Championships. No doubt that LondonOlympics became the critical moment to inspect the outcome of two seasons of preparation as well as the intercontinental competition experience. This thesis employs bibliographical information, video observation, mathematical statisticsand other research methods, conducts contrastive study of the offensive ability of Chinese Men’sbasketball team fighting against the top four teams in London Olympics under the new rules, analyzes the advantages and shortcomings of its offensive ability and puts forward followingsuggestions:1.Strengthen the communication with world-class teams; maintain the stability oflong-distance shooting average under the situation of strong defense and fierce physicalconfrontation; lay stress on the cultivation of players’ physical quality and technical applicationability; formulate multiple tactical plans for mid-range shot and long-shot.2.The offensive training near no-charge semi-circle should pay more attention to theholding-crossover aggressiveness and physical antagonism to enhance self-confidence; advancethe scoring ability and self-adjustment ability under the strong confrontation and interference;strengthen their ability to predict the intention of defenders and to control offensive fouls, andreduce their own turnover.3.Strengthen the cooperation between inside players and outside ones to increase the rate ofsuccessful attack; enrich scoring methods, enhance personal offensive ability, and enlargeoffensive area; emphasize the development of step flexibility and ball-protecting ability of insideplayers.4.As for the offensive after throw-in on the throw-in line in frontcourt, China should learnfrom foreign first-class teams, setting different situations for players to master different tacticsand to enhance their executive capacity and the ability to adjust to changing circumstances;strengthen the training of psychological quality and shooting technical application stability toimprove free-throw percentage at the crucial moments.5.Accelerate offensive speed after throw-in in frontcourt due to the other party(except forball out-of-bounds); enhance the stability to apply tactics in high-speed movement and fierceconfrontation, increase the two-point shooting average and reinforce the training of offensivecooperation awareness and aggressivity; reduce turnover to effectively raise the successfulattacking rate.
