The World War Ⅱ is a turning point in the development of American history, it has produced important influences on all aspects of American society, women are no exception.After American women won the right to vote in1920. they were not improving at a cracking pace as once people expected. On the contrary, American women fell into slow development in the two decades influenced by social environment, especially the impact of economic crisis. Meanwhile, women movement sank into depression. Witli the outbreak of the World War Ⅱ, the emergency of war changed the traditional social atmosphere. As a result, the survival living conditions of women underwent major changes during the war.The World War Ⅱ occurred between the two feminism movement in American history, and it just in the blueprint stage of the second feminism movement. It is no exaggeration to say that the World War Ⅱ broke the silent situation of women’s development before World War Ⅱ,improving American women back on social stage. For American women, it has the most direct and significant wartime effect as well as the long-term impact for the future development of postwar. Firstly, this paper reviews the development situation of American women such as economic, family and educational aspects before the World War Ⅱ;Later, introducing detailedly the changes of American women’s living conditions during the World War Ⅱ and they actively fight for their rights,the paper expounds the essential impact of the World War Ⅱ on American women.
