The offensive tactics in modern volleyball games are fast-changing, the block heightgradually increasing, block technology gradually maturing. The setter, as the soul for teamattacks, is facing severer challenges, which raises a higher requirement for setters’ tacticalawareness, the capacity of distributing the ball and skills of passing the ball. The effect ofsetter’s distributing ball, namely, whether the setter can pass the ball to the point, largelydecides whether a team can give full play to offensive attack and can use attack tacticsuccessfully. An excellent setter, as the core of a team, the center of the playing field and thefirst step in a team attack, should have not only perfect physiological and psychologicalqualities, but also comprehensive volleyball skills and perfect ball-distribution capacity. In the30th Olympic Games, the offensive advantage of Chinese women’s volleyball team is nolonger obvious, while Brazil’s and the United States’ women volleyball team combine highspiking from high set and fast break, developing toward “higher, faster, stronger”. As a result, the setter of Chinese women’s volleyball team should be fast in mind, judge accurately andthen pass the ball snugly at a high rate of speed, letting the opponents imperceptible of ourtactical intent. This thesis intends to study the competition performance of Chinese women’s volleyballteam in the30th Olympic Games. Adopting literature method, video observation, mathematical statistics and comparative analysis, this study analyzes the effects of setters’distribution of the balls in Chinese women’s volleyball team, find out the existing strengthsand weaknesses and raise suggestions for the Chinese women’s volleyball team to get betterachievement. The results are as follows:1, In Chinese women’s volleyball team, if the first pass makes a good pass, the followingtactics can be flexible; if not, the power spike of player No.4or fast-break of player No.2canmake some adjustment and players in other position can’t implement any fast attack tactics. This requires a higher rate of good pass for the first pass.2, Setters’ passing style has changed a lot than before with jump pass as the main tactic andsupplemented by standing pass. The power spike position is usually position number4and thefast break mainly concentrated in the position number2. From the perspective of setter distributing the ball, Chinese women’s volleyball team has maintained the fast-changingtactics, but the back row attack is relatively small and three-dimensional attack tactics are notobvious.3, Chinese women’s volleyball team is relatively weak when the setter is in the fourth inning, because in this situation, it is likely that more competitors make blocks. So the allocation ofthe position of the ball should not be single but be flexible and the imperceptibility of setterpassing the ball should be strengthened.4, The effect is better when the setter assigned the ball to position number2and number4, orposition between number2and number3as well as position between number3and number4.Assigning the ball to position number4or6results in blocks of more competitors, suggestingfast break should be strengthened when organize an attack.5, In Chinese women’s volleyball team, setter’s ability in distributing key balls should bestrengthened. In the6th round, the percentage of no competitor block and one-competitorblock is the highest, suggesting the effect of distributing the ball in this round is the best. Inthe1st round, the percentage of double blocks and three-competitor blocks highly reach92.8%, indicating the setter distributed the ball unreasonably with weaker imperceptibility inthis round, which is noteworthy.
