The interaction of EFL classroom is a kind of classroom teaching procedurewhich is leaded by the teacher, while carried out by the students. It can improvelearning effect. Teachers are the organizer, promoter, instructor and executor inclassroom interaction. They play a very important role in arousing the students’enthusiasm of learning and class participation. With regard to the interaction betweenteachers and students in EFL classroom of high school, many scholars have studied itfrom the perspective of educational psychology or the behaviors of teachers. The New Curriculum Standard emphasizes that teachers should pay attention tothe emotional attitude of students, for it is as important as their language knowledge andskills, learning strategies and cultural knowledge. So arousing students’ enthusiasm ofclassroom participation can develop their comprehensive language application ability. This dissertation aims at, from the point of both teachers and students, studying how toimprove the interaction in EFL classroom of high school by teachers’ questioning.A questionnaire survey was given to95students from two classes in the samegrade in Ruian No.2Middle School, Ruian, Zhejiang. Besides that, I interviewed twoteachers in my practice school and visited their four classes respectively. With the helpof these preparations, It was further understood that the current situation of teachers’questioning in EFL classroom in high school, and I give a careful analysis of it.From the results of surveys, it summarized that the types of teachers’ questions, thewaiting time after questioning, the feedback after questioning and the distribution ofquestioning all have effect on students’ enthusiasm of classroom participation. From thepoint of view of students, they prefer to answer referential questions rather than thecommon display questions, most of them hope that the waiting time is more than5seconds, and can get a positive feedback of their teachers. As for the distribution ofquestioning, students hope that teachers can ask questions at random, rather thanaccording to the regular way or asking students who they like more. Students wishteachers can treat each of them equally, of course including the aspect of query object. From the perspective of teachers, they should pay attention to the intonation and the speed of questioning, the methods of questioning and answer and the waiting time, etc.In order to arouse their enthusiasm of classroom participation, teachers should considerstrategies of questioning from the perspective of students. For only using the strategiesand methods of questioning correctly, can teachers promote the classroom interaction, stimulate students’ interest in learning, improve students’ classroom participation, formthe comprehensive language application ability, and increase the emotion betweenteachers and students.
