The Research On The "Both-Up" Use Charateristic Of World’s Outstanding Women Tennis Players In Doubles

In today’ s tennis world,the actively utilization of taking the initiative to attack and the frequently usage of the "both-up" skill is the trend of the development of the tennis double project facing the more and more intense and fiercer situation of the confrontation of tennis match.Basing on 24 videos of the hard court match of the WTA’ s top ten excellent woman double tennis players from 2006 to 2008,this paper conducts a comprehensive analysis of the features of their technology and tactics by using the methods of bibliography,expert interviews, video observation statistics,mathematical statistics,and other methods. The result of this study shows:1.At present,"both-up" style represents an advanced women’ s doubles tennis style.While today’ s world tennis women doubles players’ mainly used style is the "up-and-back" combined with the "both-up" style.2.The usage rate and scoring average reaches the peak when "serve-both-up" in the inner corner.The second serve is the mainly attacked object by the "both-up" players.When the players reserve the inner corner serve,the usage rate and scoring average of the "both-up" is the highest.Players use forehand and backhand cross court,and lob straight line as the main "both-up" tactics.Players mainly use the forehand and backhand which hit the same line as the "hit-both-up" tactics to tackle the midfield ball.3.Midfield volley is the key technology in the "both-up" strategy. The main scoring technologies are in forecourt volley,midfield volley, serve,smash and poaching;while the main losing point technologies are midfield volley,forecourt volley and slice.4.The spatial characters of the "both-up "strategy are manifested as follows:backfield is the preparation area,the midfield is the transitional area,and the forecourt is the scoring area.The "both-up" players mainly use the transitional technology in the midfield where the most losing point region locates.The midfield is the key point of controlling and attacking by "both-up" players and the key area in the utilization of the strategy.
